First off, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I'm going to get long winded you can go to my bio or my site below to find out more about me, but I will tell you that I spent several years in the military working in the intelligence field. Let me clarify exactly what intelligence is, intelligence, simply put is the gathering of information. So when it comes to background checks, I am more than qualified to tell you the do's and dont's.

When conducting a background check, whether its on an employee or individual, its important to ensure that the intelligence/information is accurate and the best way to do that is through multiple sources. After all, you dont want someone who is unscrupulous in your employ. Likewise, you don't want to miss someone that could be a team player and make a significant contribution, due to bad intelligence. One of the things that I teach at BEN Semiars is all intelligence should be verified at least three times before making a decision.

The first place to gather intel on an individual is PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records). PACER has been around for years and is a network of all government records. The best thing about PACER is it is FREE! The down side of PACER is that the intel though accurate may be obsolete and there is a major lag time between what is posted and what is actually happening in real time. If that makes sense, thus the reason to have the intel reverified.
